We have had very intense days full of meetings and visits to conferences 💪🏼 It was no different on Friday, March 21st, when the Ecological Forum was held at the Polish Theatre in Szczecin. The meeting was opened by Olgierd Geblewicz, Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, and Rafał Trzaskowski, Mayor of the Warsaw, who discussed “The role of cities in climate policy”. The plenary panel discussion “Strategic decisions for a green future – local governments and business in the face of energy transition”, moderated by Monika Borkowska from Rzeczpospolita, was attended by:
- Olgierd Geblewicz – Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship
- Sebastian Ciemnoczołowski – Vice-Marshal of the Lubuskie Voivodeship
- Hanna Zdanowska – Mayor of Łódź
- Janusz Gajowiecki – President of the Polish Wind Energy Association and Wind Industry Hub
- Artur Osuchowski – Member of the Management Board for Energy and Energy Transformation at ORLEN S.A.
– Western Pomerania has great potential, which could be squandered by new regulations. The new regulations propose the introduction of so-called protection zones for military aviation and military flights. For Western Pomerania, there is a risk that such barriers will be set up, making it impossible to implement our wind projects. The region’s potential could be reduced by as much as 60%, and these are dangerous solutions that local government officials should look into, because they could lose as much as 700 million zlotys in tax revenue to local budgets, said Janusz Gajowiecki, President of PWEA and WIH.
In a later discussion on “Green energy and the circular economy – technologies and development directions” led by Angelika Muchowska, the following experts took part:
- Dr Paweł Machalski – President of the Renewable Energy Development Forum
- Lilly Wolny – Manager in the Department of External Funds and Innovation at SEC Sp. z o.o.
- Dr Artur Bejger, Eng. Prof. PM – Vice-Rector for Science at the Maritime University of Szczecin
- Dominika Taranko – Managing Director of the Wind Industry Hub
- Dr Agnieszka Mazurek-Czarnecka – POLINVEST analyst and research and teaching staff member at the University of Economics in Krakow
- Adrian Moliński – Vice-President of the Management Board for Operations, ENEA Operator Sp. z o.o.
The event was attended by over 400 people – representatives of administration, science and business. Thank you very much for the invitation and fruitful discussions during the panel discussions!
