Nearly 50 people attended a webinar held on July 17, 2024 for members of the Northern Chamber of Commerce entitled. “West Pomeranian Wind Hub. Development Prospects for Onshore & Offshore Wind in Poland”.

“Why is it important to be interested in the wind industry now? It is currently going global. The new economic sector that is forming in Poland will offer new jobs, new plants will be built and a whole ecosystem of subcontractors will be created. As much as it has been talked about for years, for a series of last years the wind power industry has been developed sometimes against favorable regulations, not always in accordance with the political will to drive the energy transition in this direction. Today it seems that as a country we have no other choice – wind has a chance to account for more than half of domestic energy production by 2040. It has a chance, because somebody has to build these projects, and we, as an organization, want this to take place with the greatest possible participation of domestic companies, which have a lot of potential to participate in the supply chain” Dominika Taranko said.

“An army of subcontractors is needed to be able to realize the big ambitions in the wind power area – onshore and offshore. WindEurope estimates that the supply chain in some sectors needs to double, in some sectors it needs to triple, and in the area of some vessels the deficit is even fourfold” added the WIH’s Vice President and Managing Director.

“The key today is for us to multiply our domestic and European industry and be able to feed these projects with components and services, otherwise someone will surely fill the gap. We should be interested in ensuring that as much of this money is invested in wind farms as possible would stay in the region”.

The Wind Industry Hub Foundation works to build strong business relationships, transfer knowledge and technology, and support the implementation of joint projects between domestic and foreign industrial entities operating in the wind sector. The interest with which our webinar was met brilliantly shows that entrepreneurs from the West Pomeranian Region are well aware of the opportunities created by the development of the energy transition and are open to joining the wind energy value chain in Poland. Thank you for such a fruitful meeting!
